Dear pupils,
yet another error! My sincere apologies for all the initial chaos and confusion. ^^
Set B
qn.4b) If there are 345 roses in the shop, NOT 342.
Anymore changes to the questions will be reflected in THIS POST from now on, so if you keep getting stuck, it may be a good idea to check back on this thread to see if there is any mistake with the question. (Erhem.. hopefully not!)
Once again, hope everyone stay flu-free!
Regards,
Mr Ng

Parallel questions for P5
Dear all,
Here are the parallel questions. Please follow your teacher's instructions as to how to submit your answers. Please take note of the following before you start.
a) You are NOT allowed to use a calculator for questions 1 and 2.
b) Due to a problem with the display of fractions on this site, all fractions will be written in this format : numerator/denominator.
eg. 1/2 = one over two = half
5/12 = five over twelve
1) Judy earns $2500 per month. She saves 4 times as much as she spends each month. If she spends $400 and donates the rest of the money to charity, how much does she donate to charity each month?
2) Sam has $720 at first. He spent 5/12 of his money on some computer games and 4/7 of the remaining money on some comic books. How much did Sam spend on the comic books?
3) Johnny bought a flat for $316 000. He paid a deposit and a monthly installment of $1 250 for 20 years. How much did Johnny pay for his deposit?
4) There are 25 lamp posts from one end of the road to the other end at equal distances apart. The width of each lamp post was 0.4 m. The distance between 2 lamp posts is 15 m. Find the length of the road.
5) The total mass of some empty cans and bottles is 1.728 kg. Each can has a mass of 25 g. Each bottle is 17 g heavier than a can. If there are 22 more bottles than cans, how many bottles are there?
6) Each time Maggie puts $4.20 into her savings box, her mother puts in 3 times as much as Maggie. When Maggie has $1 663.20 in her savings box, how much has her mother put into her savings box?
7) There are red, blue and white roses in a florist shop. There are 24 more blue roses than white. The number of red roses is 5 times as many as the blue ones. If there are 654 red and white roses, what is the total number of roses in the shop?
8) At a food stall, the following items were sold at the prices listed as follows:
butter cookies - $0.55 per 100 g
cake - $2.95 per 500 g
sotong balls - 3 for $1.20
Sarah bought a 4-kg cake and 2.4kg of butter cookies.
a) She gave the cashier a $50 note. How much was her change?
b) If Sarah were to spend all her change on the sotong balls, how many sotong balls would she have bought?
9) 1/5 of the marbles in a shop are blue, 1/3 of the marbles are red and the rest are yellow.
a) What fraction of the marbles are yellow? Leave your answer in the simplest form.
b) If there are 36 less red marbles than yellow marbles, how many marbles are there in the shop?
c) The shopkeeper sold 1/2 of his marbles at $0.30 each. How much money did he get?
